Datastorm 2017
2 and a half week ago we were having the time of our life at the resurrected Datastorm.
It did not disappoint!
Having said that. If I have to say something negative then it would be that they had pushed back the main big screen a couple of meters from were it used to be in the old days which resulted in that it was not possible to watch the compos from the side where we were sitting. But apart from that there was nothing to complain about. At least nothing that I can remember now.
So now that is out of the way. Let’s continue with what was good!
We sat at the same spot as last time, close to the bathrooms, I’m sure you saw our awesome banner! But this time we occupied every table at this spot as we were 15 insaners present.
Left to right: Randy, Corel, Origo, Vedder, Slash, Bjoppen, Alpaidus, Triace, Bitflippr, Mygg, Premium, Bonefish and Corpsicle. Not Pictured: Duffe and dLx.
We had such a good time. The iNSANE family were back together again. Meeting a lot friends. Making new friends. Some of us continued the tradition of not sleeping at all during the party (I’m looking at you Origo) while the rest of us slept like princesses the way old farts do at hotels.
There were laughter, chipdancing, beer and a general good time. It was nice to be able to show our german members what a proper oldschool demoparty is supposed to be like.
One of the highlights this year for me (vedder) and Slash was meeting Mantronix. Such a nice guy. It was awesome hearing him talk about the good old days over a pizza at Captain Nemo’s.
There were several awesome seminars. With Dave Haynie, Mahoney and Peter Sunde (nike/craze^trsi recordz) getting top marks in my book.
And of course there were compos as well. We had a few entries:
Amiga 64k intro
We got first place with our hypnotic 40k “Copperstorm” intro.
Amiga A500 demo
A cool co-op with Five Finger Punch ended up at 4th place. Here is “Ideograph”
The official Amiga “Revision invitation” 2017 together with Desire etc ended up at 6th place.
